STATISTICAL CALCULATIONS OF ENTROPY OF METHANE CLATHRATE


Re-structuring of water (hexagonal ice) in the presence of hydrophobic molecules (methane) at the ambient conditions leads to formation of methane clathrate hydrate. This is an entropy-driven transformation dominated by the configurational reorganization of the system our calculations show.
